The Lemoore College Upward Bound Program is an early college intervention program that targets high school students that show strong commitment and interest towards enrolling into college. Our main objective is to promote academic achievement and higher learning by offering an array of support services that will foster educational success.

    Students have the option to apply for the Upward Bound Classic (UBC) Program or the Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) Program.  Upward Bound Math & Science is for students who are interested in pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math while the UBC program is for any student interested in pursuing a career in any field including careers that only require an Associate’s Degree.

    This program is funded by the Department of Education and hosted by Lemoore College.

    The Upward Bound Program also holds a six-week summer program at Lemoore College. During the summer, participants take part in a college experience that provides enrichment in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) but not limited to English, American Sign Language, Biology, Political Science, Art and other subject areas.

    College tours are hosted throughout the year. These trips are all-inclusive of transportation, lodging, meals, and admission tickets. Participants gain opportunity to travel with Upward Bound on over-night excursions that are filled with educational experiences that are ever lasting.

  • All academic and student development services are provided to qualifying students at no cost. Room and board expenses during outings are covered by the program. In addition, students who fulfill their responsibilities are eligible to earn a quarterly stipend during the academic year and/or a summer stipend during the summer program.

  • Participants are required to be involved in all activities organized by program staff. During the academic year, students are required to attend weekly after school tutorials. Every month, students are required to participate in a Saturday Session event that focuses on academia. All participants must meet a passing grade in their academic schedule. Students are also required to participate in our summer program component.

  • Any student who is a Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior and is attending any of the following high schools: Avenal High, Corcoran High, Hanford West High, Lemoore High, Laton High and Riverdale High.

    The student's parent(s)/guardian(s) must meet federal low-income guidelines or prove that neither has completed a four year college diploma. Student must also be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien. Most importantly, students must demonstrate a strong interest and commitment towards their post-secondary education.

The Upward Bound Program at Lemoore College is limited to 65 participants on a yearly basis. Students attending one of the target high schools and meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply

Note: Upward Bound Classic and UB Math & Science are at capacity and not accepting applications for 23-24. Applications for the 24-25 academic year will open on June 1st, 2024.
